GLAETZER 2016 VINTAGE RELEASE

The Glaetzer family has been part of the Barossa Valley and its viticulture history since 1888. After 30 years of winemaking, Colin Glaetzer established the family winery to create limited quantities of super premium Barossa Valley red wines. Today Colin’s son Ben makes unique and elegant wines which are regarded as classics and unmistakably Barossan. All fruit for Glaetzer Wines is taken from a small sub district of the Northern Barossa Valley called Ebenezer which produces exceptional fruit from very old vines. The softness and elegance of Ebenezer fruit coupled with Ben Glaetzer’s winemaking style results in generous wines with great depth of flavour that are also elegant, multilayered and finely balanced.

AMON-RA SHIRAZ

2018 Advocate Review
Issue #238, September 2018 – 96 Points

Dramatic, intense and powerful, the 2016 Amon Ra Shiraz recalls the 2004 in its youth, crammed with layers of fruit, complex, savory elements and rich, velvety tannins. It’s full-bodied,  characterized by notes of grilled meat,  espresso, black olive, cassis, vanilla, baking spices and an undercurrent of loamy earth. It is unapologetically big and bold, the product of a warm, sunny climate and ripe grapes, but it does show a sense of decorum, restraint and elegance on the long finish.

GLAETZER ANAPERENNA

2018 Advocate Review
Issue #238, September 2018 – 95 Points

Bigger, richer and darker than the 2015, the 2016 Anaperenna Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon is 84% Shiraz and 16% Cabernet. Not for fans of shy, delicate wines, but they are neither clumsy fruit  bombs. Pleasantly multifaceted, with complex notes of charred beef, black olive and asphalt to blackberries and cassis, all underscored by loam, vanilla and cedar. Full-bodied, hugely ripe and balanced with supple tannins and enough acidity on the long, velvety finish to balance the ledger.
