Rioja Reserva, Ramón Bilbao 2011
Bodegas Ramón Bilbao was founded in 1924 by Ramón Bilbao Murga in Haro. He was an experienced wine trader and and a pioneer in the art of ageing. The winery stayed family owned until 1966, when Ramón Bilbao Pozo, last of the descendants, died. In 1999 the winery was acquired by the family business of Diego Zamora, S.A., one of the largest beverage groups in Spain. The winery got renovated, with news facilities and top-quality wines were produced thanks to a great combination of innovation and tradition of la Rioja Alta
Lovely garnet colour with medium-high depth of colour. Clear and bright. When the glass is twirled you can see its legs. Sumptuous and classical in style with good use of American oak. Aromas of blackberries, cedar, leather and spices. Good balance on the palate with a long finish.
FOOD MATCHING NOTE
This wine pairs perfectly with international cuisine (curried dishes and spicy dishes) or traditional food such as red meats, game and mature cheeses.
