Matured in a combination of both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks, the Fine Oak series showcases a lighter style of Macallan than the Sherry Oak, with a little more distillery character apparent. The 21 year old expression is described as “The Age of Maturity”.
Founded in 1824, by Alexander Reid The Macallan was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to be legally licensed. Since then, The Macallan has built a reputation as one of the world”s truly great single malt whiskies. Based in Craigellachie, Moray, Macallan falls outside the Speyside designation created by the Scotch Whisky Regulations 2009, it”s therefore labelled as a Highland Single Malt even though it falls within in the traditional region of Speyside. Known for its rich sherried style The Macallan alone accounts for some 65% of the total number of fresh sherry seasoned oak casks imported into Scotland. It is owned by the Edrington Group which purchased the brand from Highland Distillers in 1999.
